November 2024:

Congratulations to the Trek4TROG team for successfully completing our second annual fundraising hike in the Blue Mountains in October.

The team of nine adventurous trekkers, including TROG staff and members, took on the challenge of a spectacular one-day hike through the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, to raise vital funds for our work in cancer research.

An ambitious fundraising goal of $20,000 was set for the event, and donations remain open until the end of 2024, allowing supporters to help the team reach this target.

Starting at 8am under blue skies, the trekkers navigated a 15-16km route from Katoomba Falls to Wentworth Falls along the Grand Clifftop Walk, enjoying breathtaking views of the Jamison Valley.

The event was run in collaboration with Huma Charity Challenge, and the team was led by an experienced guide who shared insights about the environment and history of the area, including the Aboriginal dream-time legend of the iconic Three Sisters landmark.

The wildflowers were in bloom and the weather was perfect – although the many stairs up and down the steep valleys proved challenging for the trekkers’ knees!

TROG Cancer Research CEO Susan Goode, who took part in the trek, expressed her gratitude to everyone involved, including all those who supported the event from the sidelines.

“A huge thank you to those who put their feet – and knees – on the line to take part in our second annual trek event,” she said.

“The weather was perfect, the scenery was beautiful and it was wonderful to spend the day with such inspiring people. Our guide was fantastic and we all learned so much about the Blue Mountains.”

The team arrived at Wentworth Falls around 4pm, ready for a well-deserved rest.

You can still support the trek by donating to a trekker or the team.
