Due to ongoing COVID-19 risks, travel restrictions and limits to the size of in-person gatherings, a decision to proceed with a virtual ASM in 2021 has been made.

The ASM Organising Committee together with the TROG Cancer Research Board of Directors agreed that beyond the coronavirus implications, there are advantages to conducting events such as this online, including:

  • removal of travel and accommodation expenses
  • remote participation will reduce the event’s carbon footprint
  • enhanced exchange of knowledge through the availability of online materials.

The opportunity for networking will also be enhanced. The TROG Cancer Research ASM online portal includes a Meeting Hub where delegates can invite each other to connect, engage in live chat, schedule video conferences etc.

A virtual exhibition hall will also be available where delegates can view exhibitor information, download brochures, and engage in instant meetings with exhibitors during the ASM. Interactive social networking functions will also form part of the meeting program.

Message from the 2021 ASM Organising Committee

On behalf of the TROG ASM Organising Committee, we welcome you to participate in our 33rd Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) to be held virtually on 23 – 24 March 2021. The SMART workshop will be held as a virtual pre-ASM workshop on 22nd March 2021.

The TROG ASM Organising Committee together with the TROG Board of Directors have been monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely and due to ongoing risks, travel and gathering restrictions, a decision has been made to proceed with a virtual ASM in 2021.

The 2021 ASM will host a number of international and national renowned keynote speakers alongside key TROG cancer researchers and clinicians. More than 300 delegates attend our meeting including leading Australian and New Zealand radiation oncologists, radiation therapists, interventional oncologists, medical physicists and clinical trials personnel.

The ASM Program Committee is developing a full and extensive program, which will include collaborative workshops, scientific sessions showcasing radiation oncology clinical trials, discussion of new clinical trials, future research directions and other research developments.

The Organising Committee looks forward to welcoming delegates virtually from across the globe.
