The TROG Technical Research Workshop (TRW) is a full-day workshop for radiation therapists, medical physicists, radiation oncologists and cancer research professionals, held alongside the TROG Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM).
The workshop is designed to share the latest knowledge to support participants’ involvement in clinical trials and use of new technology in clinical research.
Each year, the workshop focuses on topical themes that are relevant and valuable for participants from across the field of radiation therapy.
The TRW and TROG ASM are endorsed by both ASMIRT and the ACPSEM, so participants are able to document attendance for CPD purposes. TROG Cancer Research provides a number of Attendance Grants to eligible members each year.

TROG hosted 81 attendees at the 2025 Technical Research Workshop (TRW) in Brisbane.
With an awesome LEGO theme, the workshop featured an engaging line-up of presentations exploring how consumers steer research success and the next big questions to solve in radiation oncology, insights into the TROG clinical trial development pathway. The workshop also explored what it takes to run and develop a clinical trial and insights from an RT Chief Investigator on Mid Ventilation SABR lung.
A highlight of the event was a presentation by the TROG Annual Scientific Meeting keynote speaker, Prof Quynh-Thu Le from Stanford University, who shared insights on the NRG Oncology Group’s approach to radiation therapy quality assurance, clinical trial conduct and innovation.
Participant feedback was overwhelmingly positive. One participant described the dynamic debate discussion as: “Great, especially the use of humour backed with facts”. The debate session also gave attendees an opportunity to actively participate in practical exercises focused on developing a research question and study design. Another highlight was the LEGO® networking session, with delegates valuing this entertaining and engaging activity.
