TROG Cancer Research Concept Development Workshop
Monday 30 November 2026

TROG Cancer Research, with the support of Varian, are hosting a virtual, half-day Concept Development Workshop (CDW) on 30 November, 2026.

We are committed to conducting world-class research in radiation therapy, with a mission to improve outcomes and quality of life for people affected by cancer. We believe our members are the driving force behind innovative and impactful clinical trials.

Our 2026 Concept Development Workshop, open to TROG members (full and affiliate), is designed to help transform a trial ideas into a fully developed research concept.

The Workshop theme is Value by Design: Smarter Trials for Radiation Oncology.

This year’s theme focuses on designing trials that improve patient outcomes and quality of life while reducing treatment burden and making the best use of healthcare resources. We particularly welcome ideas exploring:

  • Fewer treatments with equivalent or improved cancer outcomes
  • Safe dose, field or treatment de-escalation
  • Targeted use of advanced radiation technologies
  • Patient-centred outcomes, including toxicity, convenience and quality of life
  • AI, adaptive treatment and streamlined clinical workflows
  • More affordable, accessible and equitable radiation oncology care

During the workshop, participants will work collaboratively with TROG members and experts to strengthen their research question, trial design and pathway to implementation. Depending on its stage of development, your idea may progress towards a pilot study, clinical trial protocol or funding application.
