Get those pinky’s up – it’s teatime!

Hosting your own high tea can be a lot of fun, especially when you’re also raising funds for a cause you’re passionate about.

So, to make sure you make the most out of your hosted tea, we’ve put together a small checklist to ensure everything runs as planned.

  1. Pick your food items

There’s nothing better than going to a high tea that has an array of tasty options.

We recommend having a few different dietary options and to keep the food on offer as simple as possible.

Whether you decide to cook yourself, have your event catered or buy from the store, we guarantee it will be a hit if there is good food on the plate.

Some recommendations;

  • Ask for each guest to bring a plate with them.
  • Buy instead of bake
  • Get yourself a second kettle, to save time on making tea.

For the bakers out there, we recommend Taste.Com’s range of recipes or these goodies from Delicious.Com

  1. Invite your guests & spread the word

No tea party is complete without a guest list.

Invite your nearest and dearest to come along via an online invitation, so they can easily pay for the ticket when they RSVP.

For those who are less tech-savvy, we recommend sending a physical invitation and giving them the option to pay on the day.

We will provide you with all the appropriate media materials to make sure your invitation looks exciting for your guests. All you have to do is hit send on the invites!

We also have a collection of downloadable and usable Tea4TROG branded social tiles, email banners and website banners to help you promote your event. Click here to access them.

  1. Choose your location & set the date!

Do you want your high tea to be hosted in the sunny outdoors, inside in your living room or out at a restaurant/café?

The choice is all yours, but make sure to secure your location as soon as you can. This way you can ensure you have room for all your guests and can secure in a date that works for you.

If you’re interested in decorating your own space for the occasion, there are plenty of websites to check out. Some of our recommendations are these gorgeous DIY tutorials on Country Living and giving ‘High Tea’ a search on Pinterest for some inspo!

  1. Make it a FUNdraising day

To mix things up a bit we highly recommend adding some fun activities to your hosted high tea.

Some fun activities could be:

  • Sweet treats: a game where guests pay to make a guess as to how many sweets are in the jar. The one closest to the right number takes home the sweets!
  • Let them eat cake: Have a ‘Guess the weight of the cake’ contest. Just remember to weigh it first so you know who wins before you eat it!
  • Trivia Tales: Get your quizzing hat on and put your guests to the test. A fun round of trivia is always a great way to get people excited and involved.

Make it fun and add your own personal spin to it, it will make the event memorable for all involved.

  1. Deposit your funding

After all the fun is over, it’s time for all your amazing fundraising work to be deposited so it can go towards the work we do at TROG Cancer Research.

To deposit your funding, you can do so online, through our online donation portal.

We will provide you with a donation pack that will include an envelope and all the relevant information to fill out before sending back to our PO Box.

We are thankful to our 14,500 patients who have participated in our research. Please continue the generous support.
